Over the summer, our Executive Director Melissa Juneau presented at a number of local non-profit gatherings. First, she presented to Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations (LANO)’s Community Leaders Program about board service and non-profit management. Later in the summer, Melissa was asked to present at the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Greater Baton Rouge’s “Foundations of Philanthropic Diversity” workshop. The half-day workshop focused on the variety of challenges faced by fundraisers in our community. Melissa presented about the organization’s unlikely success with the capital campaign to build The Emerge Center, despite not seeming ready to raise $8M according to traditional fundraising wisdom. Melissa joined Darrin Goss, Sr. of Capital Area United Way, Mike Manning of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, and Racheal Hebert of the Sexual Trauma Awareness and Response (STAR) Center in presenting to this group of fundraising professionals.
We are so thankful for our fearless leader!
